Jumping Through Hoops

This braid is actually a combination of two different braids - a regular 3-Strand Braid and the Pull-Through Braid.
Begin by pulling all the hair over into a side ponytail.
We didn't do anything fancy with the front of her hair but you could always add a small pull-through or braid when doing it yourself.
Divide the ponytail into two equal pieces.  Braid one piece with the 3-strand Braid and the other with the Pull-Through Braid.  (Instructions for the Pull-Through Braid can be found over on the sidebar in the June posts.)
Now you're going to weave the 3-strand Braid in and out through the openings in the Pull-Through Braid.
Your finished product will be something that no one has ever seen before.
We had a lady at the store inspecting her braid trying to figure it out.  It's always fun to try something different.

Easy Picture Do's

These are my cute little neighbor girls and they're modeling some really fast and easy hairdo ideas for pictures.
Simple Side Pony
This is pretty much self-explanatory just pull all the hair over to one side of the head and combine it into a ponytail.  Top it off with a big colorful flower and it looks beautiful.
Heidi Braids
Part the hair down the middle and pull each side into a ponytail, giving you two side piggies.  Braid the piggies and then use your Topsy Tail to pull them up through the hair.  (Just behind the original ponytail elastic.)  Now wet down the ends of the braids and curl them around your fingers.  Spray them with hairspray for a nice hold.
The French Bang
Take the hair from the bang area only and create a French Braid off toward one ear.  Finish the braid down to the end of the hair and then secure it with an elastic.  Add a flower at the end to hide the elastic.  Curl the rest of the hair and slightly pull it over the braid.
Pull-Through Piggies
Simply separate the hair in half and make a low piggie on each side of the head.  Grab your Topsy Tail and create a Pull-Through with each piggie and then lightly curl the ends.
These girls have such beautiful hair and their pictures turned out darling!

The Trifecta

We were getting a little creative one morning and my princess came up with a little style of her own.
We divided her hair into 3 equal sections vertically first.
Then we pulled each section into a ponytail and braided it - securing the bottom with an elastic.
We pulled the bottom elastic up to the top elastic and combined them with one final elastic which left us with a looped braid.
We curled the loose ends just to finish it off a bit.
Forgive some of the pictures, the wind was blowing VERY hard that morning.

Multiple Looks

My princess turned 7 years old last month and for her pictures we used "Curlformers" to create her curls.  They are my favorite wet-to-dry curlers and you can find them online or at Sally Beauty Supply.  We used the extra large in her hair this time but we often use every size.
I love them because they give a nice loose ringlet instead of the tight curl that comes from the pink sponge curlers.
  Aren't the pretty!
You can also do several different looks with the curls.
Here they are down with a simple headband.
You can also wear the down with a beanie hat.  After her pictures we had her hair pulled half-up and it was still very beautiful!
Happy curling!

Simplicity

Sometimes the beauty is in the small simple things - just like this hairstyle.
Your princess can have straight hair or you can wave it with an iron or braids from the day before.
Part a small section of hair from the top of the head and wet it down.
Comb the two sides all the way down to the ears and then combine the two sides under the hair with an elastic.
Spray that top part so that it stays stiff and you don't get fly-aways.  Now place a headband just behind the slicked down hair.
The rest of the hair that is free can just fall over the headband casually.  It's very pretty and very fast and therefore I like it!

Waterfall Headband

*For a reference on how to do the two braids included in this hairstyle, you can visit "Waterfall Braid" and "5-Strand Braid" over on our side bar.*
Begin with a small amount of hair right by your princess's left ear and begin forming a Waterfall Braid.
Make sure that your braid follows the hair line along the forehead to create a "headband" look.
Once you get down to her right ear you can stop gathering hair and just finish braiding a traditional 3-Strand Braid.
Gather the fallout strands from the Waterfall Braid, along with the 3-Strand Braid and the rest of the hair into a ponytail on the back of the head.
Divide the ponytail into 5 pieces and create a 5-Strand Braid.
Now you can add a couple flower clips wherever you like.
This hairstyle holds really well and was just as tight at the end of the day as it was at the beginning.

I Love You Tons & Buns

I'm finding new uses for the bun molds every day.  You can pick them up at Sally's and they're very inexpensive.  You can also use rolled socks but I find it easier to bobby pin things down with the actual molds.
Begin by parting the hair in half horizontally.
Now simply make a ponytail with the top half that is a bit off-centered to the left.  Do the same with the bottom half but have it off-centered to the right.
Now pull each ponytail through a bun mold.  Spread the ponytail around each mold and wrap another elastic over the hair and the molds.
There should be some excess hair coming out around the bun mold and you'll want to separate that into two equal groups. Braid the two groups and wrap the two braids around the bun.  Secure them down with some bobby pins.
Follow the same steps with the other bun.
Now you can add some flowers in the middle of the buns to finish it off.
